Joe Spake is a highly active real estate professional who lives and works in the Memphis area of Tennessee.  He is an avid user of social media and internet marketing techniques and operates several websites, including a blog that covers topics relevant to the Memphis real estate marketplace.

Joe is one of a few real estate professionals we've seen who has truly recognized the value of new media and the internet as a whole.  But he's as down to earth as any Memphis native you'll meet, and he even warns readers of his blog that the internet "is not an experienced real estate professional. It cannot consult, counsel, advise, apply knowledge of local real estate laws and market conditions, make judgments, own the result, or most importantly, understand your individual goals and needs and care about you as a client."

In one of his posts, he actually pushes back against the popular trend of gauging home estimates based on broad, vague internet price data.  He points out that Zillow and other estimators will never be as accurate as a local real estate professional who knows the ups and downs of the area.  Joe uses his blog as a place to share his own valuable local observations.

He posts frequent real estate market updates that include statistics such as average sales prices, median sales prices, year-to-date numbers, and monthly sales volume.  He posts updates on the politics of the area, especially with regards to real estate and housing as well as updates on the real estate tech industry, including an article about real estate web company Move.com's recent purchase of a smaller web company , Threewide.  He analyzes the expected changes that this merger might bring to the internet real estate search industry.  In addition to this, Joe provides access to news about local Memphis community events and happenings.
