It is possible to get FHA financing, but difficult. There is an underlying reason for the poor credit that should probably be addressed first. Current past due accounts or open collections should be resolved first in my opinion. Taking the right steps now will help to increase your score and make it easier to qualify. With a higher score you will need less money down and will likely get a lower rate.

Your score is problematic... Generally speaking, most lenders and programs want to see scores over 620. While a few lenders potentially offer loans to someone with a 590, they are significantly harder to obtain. You should focus on improving your score, then applying for a loan.
I think that the first approach is to look at what the 590 reflects. Is this a mortgage trimerge and is this the middle score or did you get this score online. If you did not get a mortgage trimerge score the 590 means nothing at this point. If it is truly a 590 score let see how we can make it better in the short run so that you can benefit from better rates. I can work with you right away and we can make a plan to meet your goals.
