Lenders require a two year employment history. It is also preferred that you have been at the same job for at least two years and employment is expected to continue at that job for 3 years. If you have switched jobs within the two year period, the same line of work is ideal.

The other lender is correct, but if you have been in college until recently, you may be able to use a shorter amount of employment IF your job is related to your college study, and you started your job fresh out of college. Check with your local loan agent on that lender's policies.

FHA can allow for a lot of flexibility. As Marty Stern mentioned, you really want to check with an experienced agent in your State and get good information specific to your situation. Best wishes!

Typically there shouldn't be any requirement when you have full time work as long as the full time work is directly for an employer (not self employed) and not through a temporary employment agency. Every lender may have different criteria, so find someone you are comfortable working with and ask the questions before making any applications as each time you provide your SS#, you are giving the lender permission to pull your credit and each credit pull can decrease your credit score, even if by a small amount which would be best to avoid, particularly if they can't help you based on your employment situation. Good Luck!
