The November 26 post on the Redhead Properties blog opens with “Every counter top is scattered with flour or sugar or salt and pepper. The cupboards are bare of every pan, plate and serving dish. There isn’t a single clean utensil in any drawer anywhere in the kitchen . . . It’s Turkey Day in most homes this Thursday!”

But right as you can taste the salt and pepper, and start thinking you might be reading something literary, you remember the focus is real estate. This is the effect that Cindy Marlowe’s entries will have on your brain over and over.

Cindy Marlowe is the founder of Redhead Properties (named for her fiery locks) and a Colorado realtor – her site boasts “Colorado’s Best!” And while she has jumped on the blog bandwagon along with several other realtors, Marlowe delivers a unique reading experience. The blog is, by today’s mixed media standards, rather bare: some pictures, some video, but mostly text. The text, however, is not pasted to Redhead Properties from a syndication feed churned by a marketing company; a personal voice is there, harkening back to the halcyon days of early blogging, before Google rankings made blogs mandatory and the professional masses rushed to marketers for help. cindy marlowe

One eye-catching entry from September 18, A Real Estate Conversation Overheard, made me feel like a fly on the wall: “I was sitting at a restaurant and the tables were kinda pushed close together. It was fairly quiet, and the couple talking at the next table were rather loud, so I don’t count it as eavesdropping . . .”

The couple go on to complain about realtors being overpaid, and Marlowe’s entry goes on to debunk that myth and set the record straight, detailing the numerous qualifications realtors possess for which an unlicensed, unguided buyer could never compensate. By the end of the 928 word entry, you’ll want to clap.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of Marlowe’s personal touch is the residents of Denver, Colorado and surrounding areas can learn about their community. Two recent blog entries are titled Living the Life in Skylake Ranch and Donations to help our fellow Coloradoans with Flood Relief. Said Marlowe,

“In a way the blog is a journal, with hopefully helpful information on what’s going on in my community, and how that affects my clients now and in the future. I have been in this community for 22 years, 32 years in the city of Denver, and plan to be here providing real estate services for a very long time!”

Overall, the Redhead Properties blog is a love letter to Colorado and especially the citizens of the greater Denver area. In Adams Country Treasure, Marlowe highlights her work finding land for her mechanic, but not without highlighting his work first: “[Tim] has faithfully and honestly maintained every vehicle I’ve owned since I met him, and considering how rare a truly great and trustworthy mechanic can be to find . . . I wanted to help him reach his goal!”

Marlowe’s heart and soul are in the Redhead Properties blog, and that’s what makes it both a compelling and earnest effort to reach out to her community. She is grateful for her town, and passionate about real estate - something she was sure to make clear at the end of our talk,

Being a realtor means I continually get to experience the awesomely satisfying sense of helping others. It might sound like a cliche, but it is the truth - there is intense satisfaction in being part of making other peoples' dreams really happen.”
