Mortgage Rates 8-18-15

By Lisa Robison Updated on 8/18/2015

What will mortgage rates do tomorrow? Mortgage professionals are voting in our daily poll.

Mortgage Rates are bouncing back today from yesterday's weakness driven by the Industrial reports. After the New York Stock Exchange opened at 9:30am, Mortgage Backed Securities have seen a gradual return to "unchanged" for the week.  Housing Starts have come in at the best levels in 8 years, Although the housing report indicated some weakness in the number of new building permits, that data didn't account for much.  Because of the lighter liquidity, there are fewer trades occuring in the bond markets.  Tomorrow's FOMC minutes may spark some movement, along with the release of data from the Mortgage Market index, as well as CPI index.
