If you are deciding whether to lock or float before the Fed meeting, you should probably go with locking. Lenders are already repricing due to a slight drop in mortgage rates. The consensus is that the Fed will hike rates in September or December. Having a specific date or month set by the Fed today will help stablilize the markets.

Tuesday: MBS and treasuries are consolidating ahead of the Fed meeting tomorrow; they are positively skewed. 30-year FRM, 15-year FRM, and 30-year FHA remain the same as yesterday. They will not budge ahead of tomorrow's meeting. Jumbo 30-year and 5/1 ARM have dropped by 0.01. Expect rates to drop after tomorrow's Fed meeting. The Fed is unlikely to raise interest rates tomorrow since rates have already been spiraling upwards.
