Today however, interest rates peaked as fear of the US default and subsequent repercussions are near. Investors accross the globe are beginning to lose faith in the stability of our US economy. The mortgage market will remain volatile and interest rates will be driven purely by speculation until this government shutdown resides. Invaluable data has been withheld from investors for two weeks, paralyzing market movement. The Feds are expected to address the public about fiscal policy concerns as the House Republicans and Democrats attempt to compromise on the debt ceiling before October 17th. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) rates rose by .04% to 4.42%. The 52-week high is 4.85%.

15-year FRM rates escalated by .04% to 3.51%. The 52-week high is 3.90%.

FHA 30-year FRM rates increased by .05% to 4.05%. The 52-week high is 4.60%.

Non-conforming conventional rates rose by .04% to 4.39%. The 52-week high is 4.79%.

Adjustable-rate mortgage 5/1 year (ARM) declined by .01% to 3.09%. The 52-week high is 3.37%.
