Would my husband's income count?

My husband filed for bankruptcy 2 years ago and is gettin forclose on our current home because our payment went up too much. My name is not in either of those two so my credit is clear, we are planing of getting a home on my name only but I only make about $30,000. My husband makes more than double of what I make, would they cound his income if I apply for a loan but not put his name on it? Because eventually his income is mine too, right? by ladyb082_173_769 from Anoka, Minnesota. Aug 13th 2011 Reply

Your husbands income will not be allowed if he will not be on the loan. I would also make sure that the lender will not look at the previous address on the loan application and discover that your current address is going into foreclosure.

If we followed your logic that your husband's income should be counted, why wouldn't a bank take into consideration his past poor credit performance. You would be better served renting while you both created a sustainable budget and stuck to it so that you and the bank would have confidence that you collectively have your financial house in order.
