Who can pay for termite treatment on VA loans?

Robert Hanson (rhanson)
#38 ranked lender in Maryland - 646 contributions

Sorry, but the first responder is mistaken. The veteran is not allowed to pay for the termite inspection. The seller, or an agent, or anyone else should be able to, however. I'm happy to help with the financing or just give you advice. If you need more information, or a competing rate quote call, email or use my live support button to discuss or get in touch with me. Web Address for live chat or quote is: http://www.loansfromrob.com/quote/ Email is robertlh66@verizon.net and direct phone is 240-752-7549. Good Luck -- Rob Hanson

Hi Sandy, Currently, anyone except the buyer can pay the termite inspection fee on a VA loan home purchase.

Usually it is always paid by the seller and/or real estate agent. The borrower is never allowed to pay for this. There have been talks about changing this in the future, but I would not anticipate that. Best wishes, Sean

"You are not allowed to pay for the termite report, unless the loan is a refinance. That fee is usually paid by the seller." Source: VA website, under "other loan costs" http://benefits.va.gov/homeloans/purchaseco_loan_fee.asp
