If you have VA benefits available to you and your mid score is 580, then your not going to get approved... VA lenders will require a minimum of 600 or above.. keep in mind that they look at all 3 credit scores and take the middle score... not the highest.. and also note that it takes much more than a credit score to qualify for a mortgage.. income, job, credit, credit delinquencies, etc.. all play into whether you can get financing or not.. I've had borrowers with a 740 credit score get denied.. if you really want to know for sure, you should contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Do not use the local "Big" bank, or one of those 50 states internet lenders or nationwide lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. Because he has lower overhead, he can offer you lower rates and lower fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

If you would like a VA loan you will need a credit score above a 600. The best thing for you to do is to wait while you work on improving your credit to apply for a loan.

I am going to agree with William and Adrielle - about needing that 600 Credit score, and with William specifically about finding a good, local, licensed Mortgage broker. They can help you review your credit an determine what needs to be addressed first, to help move that score up into something more likely to be approved.
