Should I get prequalified or is it unnecessary?

You must get pre approved prior to your home search.. if you come across a home you wish to purchase and you instruct your realtor to submit an offer, your offer will have very little consideration if it's not accompanied by a pre approval from a qualified mortgage company.. Plus by getting pre approved, if there are any irregularities within your profile, they can be identified and dealt with prior to your shopping for a home.. .. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

Yes, you should get prequalified if you are trying to purchase a home. Most realtors will not work with you unless you are prequalified first.

As the others have said, it is in your best interest to get pre-approved/pre-qualified. By simply providing a loan officer with your income/asset documents and completing an application, you can avoid headaches down the road.

You absolutely should, otherwise you will not know what you actually qualify for, and most Realtors will require a pre-qual prior to accepting an offer.

Hi, If you're paying cash, no you do not need a prequalification letter. All you need is a bank statement or a letter from your bank to show them you have enough to pay cash for the offer + closing costs. Otherwise, as all of the others have said, yes, you need a letter from a lender. If you are still looking for someone who is Licensed in Ohio, I'd be more than happy to help. We have many different programs and options. We are a lender, banker and broker. So, if you need someone with options, give me a call.Kimberly Lawson Licensed Ohio Loan OfficerPhone/Fax: 888-659-3848EMAIL: kimberly.Lawson@fpfmail.com Licensing: NMLS: 5601 OH.LO.004495.000 First Priority Financial, Inc. MJFaux, As everyone has said, you should be PreQualified. Rarely will sellers accept your offer without a certificate or letter say that you have been PreQualified or PreApproved. In the process of being PreQualified, you also want to find out any programs that might save you money. You are welcome to contact me as I am in the Northern Ohio area. Also, if you want to estimate your payments on a possible purchase, you can use this calculator. Mobile.AllOhioMortgage.com With it you can get a very close estimate of your payments.

Getting Pre Qualified is important for both you and the Realtor you will be working with- Your Realtor will want to make sure thatqualify for the mortgage as far as income, assets, down payment- The Loan officer you choose can guide you as to what to expectwhen making an offer, insurance requirements etc..... There are some very good lenders here on Lender 411-Good Luck,Pete
