So, as you can see the SHORT ANSWER is yes... but here's what your up against.. First of all, my question would be how did you come up with your score.. Lenders look at all 3 credit bureaus and take the MID score.. not the highest.. and they have to use the score from their credit report, not yours.. If you obtained your score from a mortgage company, then it's probably accurate.. however if you got it from one of the "Free Credit Report" websites, then your score could be much different.. when you apply for a mortgage, your score reflects the likelihood of you defaulting on a mortgage.. when you apply for a car loan, your credit score is based on the likelihood of you defaulting on a car loan, and the score could be much different.. but when you get your score from a Free Score website.. the scoring method is very different and can produce very inaccurate credit scores.. Also, it takes much more than a credit score to obtain financing.. income, income type (commissions, 1099, self employed, etc.. ) credit, derogatory credit, debt, and debt to income ratios, etc.. so it's your complete profile that's examined in determining one's eligibility, not just the credit score.. if you want to know for sure, then the best advice I can give you would be to contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Most will do a "No cost pre approval" so you have nothing to lose. Do not use the local "Big" bank, or one of those 50 states internet lenders or nationwide lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. Because he has lower overhead, he can offer you lower rates and lower fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Absolutely and on lower scores than 620, now keep in mind you will have to qualify based on your total credit profile not just score
Absolutely! For many lenders 620 is the minimum score for VA. Others of us go down as low as 580. Make sure you use an experienced VA lender who knows how to navigate the process for you smoothly to avoid any surprises at the end! I'm happy to help with the financing or just give you advice. Let us know how we me earn your business. Any questions, please contact. Mike (703) 505 5300
In fact Carrington Mortgage Services go down to 550 FICO scores with a VA loan at 100% financing so your score should not hold you back on financing.
Yes, if you are income and credit qualified. You will also need your Certificate of Eligibility to show your entitlement amount in order to come in with a zero down payment. Most lenders/brokers can order this for you.
The ability to get a VA loan with no down payment is going to depend on your eligibility/county loan limit(s). You can either request your COE yourself or provide a small amount of information to your lender, and they can request it for you online. You can check the VA loan limits at http://www.benefits.va.gov/homeloans/documents/docs/2014_county_loan_limits.pdf You are able to get a home with zero down if you buy a home within the county limits and have full available eligibility. You should absolutely work with a lender that is qualified to handle VA loans. I would happy be happy to answer any additional questions. Clyde Penton NMLS#979755 404.604.7013
You can and my company goes down to a 550 FICO on VA loans, but there could be certain things on your credit profile that might disqualify you. It's important to check your credit and have a mortgage professional review the report for any potential issues. My company specializes in VA loans with low FICO scores and I would appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. Please click my profile to get in touch with me at your earliest convenience and we can spend a few short minutes on the phone together to see what are your options. Thank you!
The minimum middle credit score for VA is 600 as of last month. So the answer is yes.
My only question is where did you get your score from? There are dozens of credit scoring programs out there and many are set up for evaluating credit risk for credit cards or other consumer loans. Lenders us a uniform standard for mortgage lending called FICO scoring (which is from the Fair Isaac CO) to establish eligibility. You might find your score far different once you get it from a mortgage lender. We also go off of the mid score of three bureaus, which can vary hugely depending on what credit items show on each of the three bureaus (they are seldom identical. But if 620 is your score, then you should be able to get a VA loan assuming you qualify income wise. If you are in Colorado call me at 970-748-0342 to discuss further.

Yes you can do a VA loan with 0 down
Yes - but it depends on the loan amount. Each county has a set $0 down loan limit. The loan limits are subject to change every year.
Yes you can qualify for a VA loan with a 620.
Yes, with our company as well as most other lenders who do VA loans, you can go down to a 620 credit score and with zero down.
Yes you can- we go to 580 FICO lets talk
Yes, you can. No down payment is needed because a portion of the loan is backed by the government. A VA loan guaranty does have a limit depending on the borrower's location. we actually go down to a 580 score on VA loans nothing down mike.diaz@rate.com or app www.michaeldiaz.us
We now go down to 600 and would love to help with a VA loan.
You can actually get a VA loan with a lower score than that. You can qualify for 100% financing & you are allowed to roll in closing costs using a sellers concession. There are other VA benefits as well, most of the time closing costs are reduced and in some states you may be eligible for a reduction or an exemption on real estate taxes. You can even use a VA to build a new house or renovate an existing house. Its a great program. If you have any questions you are welcome to reach out to me at 203-299-2034, you can call or text that number day or night. Im available via email as well at: gpomeroy@boemortgage.com. Yes you can. Most Lenders have this capability, if not lower.
Absolutely! We go down to a 580 scorewww.michaeldiaz.usCell 702.764.3511
I would say yes, we actually go down to 580. You only have to make sure you stay under your areas conforming loan limit, usually well over 400k.Contact me for any questions.
620 Middle score should not be an issue at all.
This is an old question from 2014, but here is the updated answer in 2022... Still YES. But understand that a credit score alone does not equal a loan approval. I always suggest simply completing a loan application with a local mortgage broker in your area, in this case, one who offers VA loans too. There are no costs or obligations, and they will be able to tell you exactly if you can be approved, and how much you qualify for.
