Absolutely... The best advice I can give you is to contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Do not use the local "Big" bank, or one of those 50 states internet lenders or nationwide lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. Possibly. In order to get a HARP refinance, you must meet FNMA's (or FHLMC's) eligibility requirements. It is difficult for anyone with a chapter 7 to get approved for a negative equity HARP unless the discharge was at least 24 months ago and you have re-established your credit. In the case of a chapter 13, you will need at least 12 months plus re-established credit. The only way to find out for sure is to try. Work with a local Mortgage Banker/Broker rather than one of the big banks or big national mortgage factories. Unlike a bank employee, who is most likely just an order taker, a Mortgage Broker/Banker is Trained, Tested and Licensed in all aspects of Mortgage Origination. HI VWiggin, It's hard to give a specific and informative answer without knowing more details. The short answer is YES, if your answers fit the right mold! :) It's 2 -4 yrs from the discharge date depending on other variables...I would also recommend talking to someone local about your options.
