My husband and I own our house free and clear. We have lousy credit but we need some money to finish a remodel of the house

We re looking for about $15,000 and we can't get approved because of the lousy credit score.....mine is about a 625 and my hubby's doesn't even register and he's the one that's working!!! I can't work right now because I'm recovering from an illness.Hell, we can't even get approved by the gypsy loan companies.Do you have any loan companies that would approve us for a $15,000 loan? My hubby's income is $22,869/yr by Twistedbear13793 from Freeland, Pennsylvania. Jun 18th 2014 Reply

Unfortunately, your situation is going to present a huge problem. I suggest working with a local credit repair / improvement company to see what can be done, and how fast you can get some scores that work. It may not be today, but you should see improvements over time. Good Luck.

Unfortunately, based on what you described above, it sounds like finding any sort of financing will be very difficult. I would suggest working to improve you and your husband's credit score first.

Unfortunately, there are not many lenders who will lend that small of a loan amount.. there are "equity" lenders out there that will lend on a free n clear home regardless of your credit, and their fees and rates are ridiculously high, however these "hard money" lenders typically don't mess with loans under $100K.. You'll have to work on your credit and apply for traditional financing once your back to work.. One more thing.. if you or your husband is over 62, you can apply for a reverse mortgage.. this loan would allow you to do what your looking for and once complete, you would have no payments.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. I would Google Hard Money loans in your area. They will be expensive but it might be your only option.
