My dad says that buying a single family home better than buying a condo. Is that true?

If your dad is referring to appreciation and resale then typically that is true. Then you have "lifestyle" factor. A condo has little to no maintenance from you. A house will require your attention in that regard. So one would rather not have to deal with home maintenance then a condo might be the better choice. Hope this helps.

Depends on what you mean by better? If you are talking resale and appreciation, a single family home as a generalized statement typically does appreciate better over time than a condo or town home. I lend in MN, WI, and SD and can be found at iMortgageJoe.com (NMLS 274132)
