That low score is going to cause you difficulty in getting a home loan. You may heard people say they can help you with that score, but realistically, you are going to have to work to improve the score to improve your chances. Shoot for a minimum of 640 to put your best foot forward.
To improve your score, pay down all credit cards to no more than 30% of the limit on the card, less than 50% will help but not as much. Anything that was a result of identity theft I believe you need to file a police report and contact those lenders directly. Joe is correct, you will have a much easier time getting approved if you can improve your score to at least 620-640 or higher, and that is not the only consideration in being approved. Good luck!
Your credit score is going to make it difficult to get a mortgage. Have you tried disputing any errors on your credit report that could be bringing your score down? Working to pay off your car loan will also help to boost your score.
The best advise anyone can give you is to work on getting your credit cleaned up and then approach mortgage finance.. you need to be at 640 or above for most lenders. There are lenders out there that offer financing to lower score borrowers, but the lower the score, the stricter the guidelines, and few that apply actually get approved.. ..
