Is the 4% grant through FHA still available? Like are there funds for it

How do we know if money is still available because we emailed HUD and their response was so generic and unhelpful :/ by terrialms786243526 from Orange, California. Jul 18th 2014 Reply

Ah, the trials and tribulations of working through government agencies. All the same rules apply as to all government agencies:1. Have patience2. Be polite and persistent.3. Never give up!FHA is merely applying insurance and specific regulations to loans, and not grants. For FHA loans there are various grants possible. It is not clear what specific grant you are referring to as there is more than one grant program available. As CalHFA authorized lenders we utitilze grant programsprimarily for down payment assistance, including the popular CHDAP program. If you would like more information on these programs you can click on my profile and then email me. Otherwise, I apologize if I do not recognize the specific 4% grant program you are referring to.

FHA does not offer grants, they only allow grants to be used as down payment for home purchasing. Individual agencies and non profit organizations however do offer grants, and each program has it's own guidelines.. it's best you contact a local mortgage broker and inquire with him regarding what Is available for your use. they should be up to date on the latest programs and whether or not there is still funding for them.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. There is a 3rd party 4% and a 5% grant loan program available in California. HUD would not be able to help you in this matter. The 5% grant is still available. You will need to contact a local mortgage company who offers this program. Not all do because the actual lender has to be approved to offer it. If you don't find one and need a good referral for a company in California I can recommend a good one if you need. You can reach me at loanofficerseanyoung@gmail.com
