FHA does allow you to do the repairs but you must be in the business or able to document that you can and have the ability to complete the job. Talk to a 203K lender for the requirements.

If you are a licensed contractor, you can do the work. If you are not a licensed contractor, you may be able to do the work that does not require a license.

FHA would allow you to do the repairs yourself if your a licensed contractor, or a general licensed contractor.. You can only do the repairs that your licensed for, and they will not allow you to be paid for your labor hours, only for materials under this program.. However, not every lender will allow this.. (past fraud makes lenders suspicious) I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. FHA will allow it, but any lender I know will require the work to be completed by a non-related licensed contractor. This makes since - the lender wants assurances they work will be completed to local code and on time.
