Hi Robert,The only way your son can refi your house is if he is on the deed to your home or he can document that he has paid the mortgage for the last 12 months. Are you looking to use your VA entitlement to buy a new home? If so, you may not need to have your son refi your current home. You can actually have more than 1 VA mortgage out at one time depending on how much entitlement you have left. Call me & I'll explain it to you.| John Burke | Senior Mortgage Banker | Great Plains National Bank http://www.valoansdoneright.com | (877)228-9069 | Lending in ALL 50 states
You can have more than 1 VA mortgage out at a time, but if you wish to be able to use all of your VA benefit then there are some steps you may take to first add him to the deed and then refinance the home in his name and quit claiming off of title. If you have VA entitlement remaining sufficient to do what you want to do...purchase another home perhaps...that would be the way to go, perhaps. I do VA loans and am active with SF Veterans Lions here in California. You can reach me via my profile with ay questions or clarification.
