The only reason I would not put your name on as a co-borrower is that your credit score would drag your loan into a higher rate...that's the only reason I can think of or maybe you had gaps in your employment that would be hard to explain and your income was not needed...that's my guess...good luck

More info is needed, but in order for you to be on the loan, you would have had to fully qualify, and have sufficient credit scores.. But if you requested to be added, and he did not, then you should be asking him why... Understand that you cannot just add someone to a mortgage without qualifying.. you can however be added to the deed to the property.. this give you all the ownership rights but you would not be obligated on the loan.. this doesn't mean if something happened to your husband that you would get the property without a mortgage.. the lender still holds a security interest in the property and could foreclose if the payments were not made.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. This is probably one of the primary problems that can occur in our industry (mortgage banking): the apparent breakdown in communication. The Lender's loan officer may have given one of the reasons mentioned by the two previous answers from mortgage professionals to your husband and he did not convey the reason to you. Or for whatever reason your request was not met, it should have been conveyed to you. All I could think would be a reason would be you have not been in communication with the loan officer...only your husband? Whatever stage of the loan you are in, even if it has already been funded, I would contact the loan officer first about this. I cannot understand why you would not have been told why you would need to be left off of the loan! You could still be on title and the loan officer or processor best make that clear to the escrow/title officer in advance of funding a loan.

Assuming it is still in the application stage, just ask them to add him. If there is an issue why he can't, let them explain why. Next, just apply with another lender. Finally, if it closed, how did you miss not having him on all the paperwork?
