would it be faster if i went through va or fha after bankruptcy? i am va eligible but i'd rather go with what's available for me. i filed almost exactly 3.5 years ago. by jerronbaker84623203 from Reno, Nevada. May 29th 2014
Is it discharged? Were all payments made on time?
If you are currently in your BK 13 you can go with VA or FHA. Both only require that 1 year has passed with no late payments and you would need to get permission from the court to enter into a mortgage. If you are out of the BK 13 then you would just need to show your discharge and proof of filing date and both VA and FHA would be an option since you filed over two years ago. I would contact a local loan officer and have them go over your application and credit, then provide you both options to see what direction is best for you. VA is mos likely the best option. :) Best wishes, Sean
One year after showing successful payment on your 13 even if you are still in it. Plus you will need approval from the Trustee. 3.5 years satisfies the waiting period for both FHA and VA.
