You can purchase a home for as high as you want.. But FHA will not finance more than the loan limit for the area your looking in.. so if it says $271K, that the most you can finance... example... Purchase price is $280,829 - 3.5% down payment ($9,829) = $271,000 Loan amount... I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. This is why they call it a limit. This is the maximum loan amount allowed in a specific area. You can get more, but not with an FHA loan. You can use FHA to buy a more expensive home, but in order to use FHA, you would need to pay the difference as part of the down payment to bring the loan amount down to the FHA limit. ~ Bert Carpenter, The LoansA2z team of NOVA Home Loans ~ NMLS 40586 ~ Licensed in California and Arizona ~ www.LoansA2z.com 888-889-9950
That is the most FHA will lend you.
