My credit is poor, primarily due to medical bills. My mother has excellent credit and is willing to co sign. Also, I receive Social Security Disability which I do not pay taxes. Is that income eligible to be grossed up? by shel12_499_598 from Purvis, Mississippi. May 12th 2013

Lenders will almost always use the lowest middle score to determine eligibility. Meaning a co-signer with better credit won't help, they'll still use your lower score. Typically a co-signer is best used to lower the overall debt to income ratio. HARP isn't going anywhere in the short-term, work on your credit and you'll get the loan done in time.
Check with the company that currently owns your mortgage, under the HARP program, there maybe an opportunity for you-The Lender will always go with the middle credit score of the Lower scored borrower-Good Luck,Pete
Work on your credit first.
Co-Signers are fine but Mortagge loans are base on the lower of the middle scores of both borrowers.
Hello,Lenders will still use your middle credit score since it is lower than your mothers. Yes S.S. Income is grossed up.
