Hi Janet,What type of mortgage do you have right now & when was your bankruptcy discharged? Yes, you can refinance the mortgage even though you did not reaffirm the loan.| Please feel free to contact me for more information or help. | John Burke | Senior Mortgage Banker | Great Plains National Bank http://www.valoansdoneright.com | (877)228-9069 | Lending in ALL 50 states
Yes, though it can be problematic in regards to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac who purchase most of the conforming size loans when the loan officer or their processor attempts to qualify you with their automated underwriting system. With your mortgage not reaffirmed it likely will not be reported to the major credit bureaus and therefor not picked up by DU or LP automated underwriting systems. Often the alternative is simply getting a report from the lender showing 24 months in a row of paying your mortgage loan back on time. You should be able to accomplish it. Do contact a local area mortgage broker/banker.
