1. I'm almost finished with a chapter 13 bankruptcy which will discharge my 2nd & 3rd mortgage. This should leave me at least break even equity wise. I am current on my primary mortgage and never been late. Mortgage is about 7 years old at about 5%. Is it possible to refinance now ?2.Or wait till BK is complete ? by billvista from Lancaster, California. Apr 24th 2013
There's' just so much info missing it's hard to say, but in general, we would need to know which type of loan you currently have, and when it was originated... FHA? VA? USDA? Conventional?? each have different guidelines.. but because of the recent BK, and having 2 mortgages discharged (2nd & 3rd), if those mortgages show "settled for less" then you might need to wait 2 to 3 years before applying... if your current loan is FHA, then you might be able to streamline refi once your BK is discharged,,, but again, so much info is missing, I just cant answer your question.. .. Wait. You may find it difficult to refi, due to the BK. Your current rate of 5%, is historically low, even with the lower rates available with good credit.
Your BK does need to be complete.
Bill, With a clean title report that the second and third are removed from the security of the title AND with the court's and trustee's permission we can move it forward now if no payments have been missed and with a credit rating on making your payments...highly probable.....let's discuss and documentI am a Mortgage Banker in metro Phoenix, AZ. I would need more information to see if it even made sense to refi. With your rate at 5% I would say that it may not be worth it. Need to know loan size, etc.
