can a person qualify as a co-borrower if they took a year of from work and only been back for 1 month(same line of work )?

It depends on your reason for not working for a year as well as other things. Check with a Loan Counselor in your area for advice.

It depends on the reason for taking the time off as well as the other borrower's income and employment history.
