My husband is VA eligible but his credit is poor can we use mine

He's got a 667 and mine is somewhere over 720 - I don't remember. We want the lowest interest rate possible!! Is there a way for the VA to only consider my score? by jessh89234719 from Fall City, Washington. Dec 16th 2014 Reply

A 667 is a well enough score for a VA loan. All mortgage loans will take the lower mid score of the borrower(s). You can complete your application online at www.myhomeloanpreapproval.com and we will review all your options.

VA would require that the Veteran with eligibility be on the note to use the eligibility. The good news is that both of you have scores that are good enough for VA. Your husband the Veteran would have to be on the loan to do a VA loan. The lender will use the lowest of the two middle scores. I wouldn't worry, 667 is still a good score.

Hi,On a VA loan all debts of married spouses are considered. Ratio's and residual income is also considered, if your only concern is the credit score you're in luck! Sounds like you may be getting a new home for Christmas. ;>)

You cannot use his benefits, but only your credit.. it dosent work that way.. however, 667 is in the acceptable range for most lenders.. i suggest you contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Once they see your complete loan profile, they will be better equipped to advise you properly. Also, by applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with many lenders with each one offering a different type of lending program. This is unlike the local bank which typically only has a few lending programs. The more lenders, the more lending options, and the more likely your scenario will be accepted.. Plus, the broker is experienced in seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario, and he has lower overhead which typically results in lower rates and fees than most of the larger lenders..
