The minimum age is 18, but you would need to have established credit, which is impossible since you have to be 18 to apply for credit on your own.. Typically, most lenders like to see 3 credit references that have been paid good for 12-24 months. There is no maximum age requirement.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. HI - as the other lenders have said, you have to be 18. But, lenders will require you to have established credit for over 12 month AND either a 2 year work history or a new job in the same field as you studied while going to college for 2-4 years. So realistically you need to be about 20 and meet the loan guidelines. Feel free to call to discuss a plan to get into a loan in the future - there are things you should be doing now to prepare to buy a home. Marty Stern, HomeStreet Bank, 707-364-4115

You must be 18 in order to legally enter into a contract. Lenders are not able to base their decision on your age as long as you meet the legal age of 18 and meet all other qualifying factors. Feel free to give us a call at 858-605-0952 if you would like to get a free California mortgage quote.
