A nice start to the new month, February 1st; mortgage rates have fallen to one-year lows. Although the Fed announcement, Thursday 1/31, did not directly affect mortgage rates, the result seemed to show the opposite. Tis the beginning of a very hectic week in the market. Today was the first day the government was back open; and reports say that there are over 5 million unopened pieces of mail waiting on staff. Mortgage rates were uneventful this week. The changes practically canceled each other out, leaving rates flat. Although today, rates were a tad higher than the beginning of the week. Next week will bring Federal Reserve policy statement and the jobs report. This can bring much change in the way of volatility next week.  ...

Rates were unchanged today. By closing, there were even lenders offering better terms in comparison to yesterday. Economy data is improving.
