Mortgage rates have dropped for the second day in a row this week, making rates lowest in over a month. The Bond market is an underlying factor to Mortgage rates and when we see gains in bonds it typically means that we can expect to see mortgage rates fall (lowering your interest rate). Rates have undergone a significant losing streak this week. In most cases, since 3/28 Mortgage rates have increased. Starting off the week, mortgage rates continue to rise, despite the weakness in the underlying bond market. Rates began to spike last Friday, sharply increasing into the zone around mid-late March. Amongst mostly flat rates this week, today saw an extreme spike. The rate spike today is a speculation of fears, including Chinese GDP and several European metrics hitting long term lows in the past few months.
