If you are looking to move into the City or just want to switch neighborhoods but don't know where will be the best fit, here is a guide to some of the most sought after neighborhoods in Cook County.
Uptown has gone through a revival and the neighborhood has restored many of the old buildings. It is a diverse neighborhood with numerous theaters and plenty of retail. Uptown is a lakefront community that has the only dog beach in the city. The real estate offers more space than other neighborhoods, and is less expensive.
Wrigleyville is more than a sports hub with the famous Wrigley Field. It's a small neighborhood with plenty of entertainment. This neighborhood attracts many young professionals and families. There is a lot of nightlife with plenty of live music. Wrigleyville is easy to get around and is highly walkable, you won't have trouble finding public transportation. Real estate consists of flats, brownstones, and condos.
Lincoln Park attracts many with easy access to everything you could want including several parks for the kids to play and numerous shops of every kind. It is easy access to downtown, close to Wrigley Field, and has plenty of nightlife attractions. Real estate is on the luxury end, but you can find some modestly priced real estate in the area. Homes are a mix of historic and vintage, renovated, and newly built.
Old Town lives up to its name with an old world charm. There are many vintage homes that date back to 1871. There are many different styles of historic homes that have been preserved throughout the years. It is a great location with everything you could want right outside your door. It's a very walkable location that is near comedy clubs, museums, beaches, and parks.
West Town is a compilation of 11 neighborhoods which include Bucktown, Logan Square, Noble Square, Clybourn Corridor, Fulton River District, Wicker Park, Goose Island, River West, Ukrainian Village, Humboldt Park and West Town. It is the most culturally diverse location which was once the port of entry for immigrants. There is a wide range of homes available in this area including homes with fenced in yards in the Ukrainian Village, condos in Humboldt Park, and historic mansions in Wicker Park.
