Kailua Kona Home Sales buck National Trends

Monday, April 18, 2011 - Article by: Lance Owens - LUVA LLC Real Esate Services - Message

Still bucking the Real Estate Industry trend - 2011 vs 2010 - All 3 areas of sales, are up at least 20% according to the Hawaii MLS statistics. More interesting than that were last years numbers - Home sales 2010 over 2009 were up 75% - Condo Sales for the same time frame - up 100%. (land sales were down) And don't forget, we had Tsunami that closed business's down for a few days ($30,000,000.00 in damages) , we had a 4.9 earthquake, and we had a Major Lava eruption - all part of the charm of living on a Volcanic Island in the middle of the pacific.

Funny - I had 1 deal pull out - right after the eruption - I guess they didn't realize that this eruption has been going for almost 30 years now, she (Pele) just changes direction, and puts on a better show at times. But- I had that come right back at me when the Tsunami hit - I have 2 new prospects, that were so impressed by the way Kailua Village came together in an emergency, and how they helped get the businesses back on there feet - they want to buy here now.

For those of you that have followed me for awhile, you have heard this before - been in Hawaii 27 years now, in Kona for 11 years - and you couldn't pry me off this island, I don't own a key to my home, my son doesn't lock his bike up at school, in fact he leaves it in the front yard for days on end - sometimes he leaves it down the street - leaning against the curb for days. Homes in my neighborhood start in the low 200s, I'm 1,400 feet from the ocean, just off of Alii Drive, between Kailua and the Keauhou corridor.

Email me for more information if any of this sounds interesting to you.
