"You are not allowed to pay for the termite report, unless the loan is a refinance. That fee is usually paid by the seller" Directly from the VA website. If it is a purchase, than a party other than yourself must pay for it. It is not an 'allowable fee' as per VA loan guidelines.
VA will not allow a veteran to pay for the termite on a purchase. It's the seller that would have to pay for the letter. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions regarding a VA loan.
VA says you cannot pay for the termite inspection (purchase transactions), however the seller might ask you to pay it and they would reimburse you upon successful close of escrow.. this way, If your financing falls through, they are not out the cost of inspection.
