When do you get the deed?

When I buy a house, when do I get the deed? When I first get the loan or when it's paid off? Do I get handed an actual paper deed? by sabren982 from Akron, Pennsylvania. Nov 6th 2019 Reply

it depends on how busy the Recorder of Deeds is in the county where you live. iI is usually not a high priority for them to prepare and mail out new Deeds so it could take a month or a few months. Having a mortgage lien recorded against it does not prevent you from getting a copy. I would wait three or four weeks and then contact them directly and request a paper copy. You can also contact the Closing Agent's company and ask them to send you a copy.
