I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 it was discharged in November 09, In the bankruptcy I surrendered my home and moved out. It now is October 2011 and the bank just foreclosed. At this point I have 675 FICO and was wondering when can I get a mortgage? by trevor_191_268 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oct 20th 2011
Generally, you would be eligible for a new FHA mortgage following two years afte a Chapter 7 filing was discharged. If a property was included in the bankruptcy, most investor overlays will require that you wait for three years from the date the foreclosure deed was recorded. Your best option would be to contact a local Mortgage Banker or Mortgage Broker (not one of the big banks). They should have access to investors that may hold you to a lesser time period than this.
If you bk was handled properly, you would have been relieved thru the debt on your mortgage so the forclosure would not be on you check back with your attorney, i work with numerous attorneys and cantact me thru my email lindaforloans@live.com
You have three years after your foreclosure before you can apply for an FHA loan. good luck!
The previous answers are correct....2 years Minimum on the foreclosure (sherrif sale date) and some require 3 years
It's 3 years from the date the deed to the property transferred out of your name. If you contact your BK attorney, he should be able to get the date for the foreclosure to reflect the same date of the BK, but this will take some work. If he get's it done, you can apply November next year.. WilliamAcres.com
