First of all, your online estimate of your FICO score has no bearing on the score that would determine a mortgage rate. A credit pull for a mortgage application is a deeper tri-merge from all three bureaus, and the middle score is what determines the rate you're offered. Most lenders (maybe all) the have the ability to do a rapid re-score. I don't recall the fee, as it's not a deal breaker. I'd recommend completing a loan application, having your credit pulled by the loan officer so that you know exactly what score you're working with. Then determine what course of action will best help you. In the meantime, pay your bills on time, every month, and resist opening new lines of credit if you're considering buying a home soon.

Get with a local mortgage broker and let him run your credit.. loan pricing is based on the middle score, so all 3 major bureaus need to be run.. as far as re scoring,,, it might not be necessary.. depending on the loan product your applying for, there might not be any significant difference between a 694 borrower compared to a 700 borrower.. if re-scoring is required, then your lender can handle it and the pricing would be based on how many trade lines need to be re scored.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. I agree with the previous submitted answers. You need to have a mortgage banker or broker pull your credit, so you can receive a more accurate information in regards to your actual FICO scores.

Other responses are correct: be careful that you are getting a true credit score - not a "consumer" score which is very different and on an entirely different scale. There is no cost for a re-score through many lenders, but not all offer that option. I have a blog on this site, "quickly improving your credit score" check it out for some good tips. In general, keep your credit card balances low, don't open new acounts or close old ones, and make sure you don't get new collections reported against you, pay new collections from the past 12 months but NOT those older than a year or it can reduce your score.

Rapid rescore is not a "lender" thing... that is something each individual loan officer may or may not want to potentially assist you with. It also isn't exactly what many people think. You need a letter from the creditor saying that they are removing something from the report. Your loan officer can submit it for verification, and it can possibly be adjusted in as little as 3-days, versus up to 45-days through the creditor. If you are just paying down credit cards or something like that, rapid re-score isn't for that. I suggest you apply with your local mortgage broker. Let them pull a lender credit report to see where you are really at before getting to excited about rapid rescore.
