What is the difference between an Origination "Charge" and "Origination "Fee"?

The government mandates that all "Origination Fee's" be grouped together under one section of the Good Faith Estimate labeled "Origination Charges" Underwriting fee is an origination fee.. processing fee is an origination fee.. all of these will be listed under "Origination Charges" (section A). More than likely, you're not getting double charged.. it's just they didn't identify each charge correctly.. Typically you should not be double charged. There be an origination fee within the origination charges. Origination Charges is the combined fees that the lender will charge you to complete the loan. Where as an Origination fee is typically a single fee the lender is charging for a specific rate.

They are basically the same as the origination charge is the total of points and any processing or underwriting fees. Origination Fees all fall under the section of Origination Charges. It should not be a double charge but just summarizing that section. There should not be a double charge from this.
