What are the distance requirements when buying multiple second homes?

My wife and I have a second home loan in another state. Does anyone know how far a vacation home needs to be from other vacation home properties? I’ve heard that there are distance requirements when getting multiple second home loans. by parkes818 from Houston, Texas. Mar 30th 2022 Reply

So, isn't a second, second home really a third home? It is. You can only have ONE second home. Distance does not matter. But before you sweat the details, because so many people have tried to play that game and do what you are suggestion, earlier this year, Fannie and Freddie increased their pricing adjustments, making the rates on a second home just as high as investment property loans. There is no official distance requirement. Rather, there is just a "does it make logical sense" requirement that it would be a second home. For example, if your primary home is in Houston, and you are claiming a home on the other side of town as a second home, that makes no sense. But a primary in Houston, a vacation in California, and a different vacation home in Florida would make all the sense in the world. I lend in MN WI IA SD ND.
