what are rules for first time home buyer?

I purchased a home in the Ukraine, back in 1979. It was sold in 1999 before I moved to USA in 2000. I was denied for a first time home buyer program. I am thinking this program is for fist time home buyers in US only. Can someone explain the rules for first time home buyer program if I am not US Citizen. by lahvak660 from Alpine, Alabama. You don't have to be a US citizen to qualify for a loan, but you must be here legally.. either on an acceptable Visa, or have a permanent resident status. Most all mortgage guidelines consider a borrower to be a First Time Home Buyer if they have not owned a home in the past 3 years. This sounds weird, but that's how most all loan's consider FTHB's.. owning a home in Ukraine wont affect your status. If you were recently denied, I would ask specifically, why were you denied.. The lender is required to send you a letter explaining why, but sometimes the letter is confusing.. your loan officer, or the person you talked to should be able to explain to you why.. I'm a preferred Lender with California and Arizona being my primary markets. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com NMLS# 226347 / LendUS, NMLS 1938/ AZMB0121893
