Quoted high appraisal fees, will it be credited during closing?

My lender charged $600 for an appraisal but upon checking the actual cost is only $500. Are they required by law to refund the difference? I was hoping they could send a check or at least credit the amount during closing. I don't remember being credited the difference even if I got charged high appraisal fees in the past. What should I expect? by vanessa996 from Detroit, Michigan. Feb 22nd 2023 Reply

thanks 1) make sure to ask your lender this question 2) yes - at closing you should be charged just the $500 and the $600 should show as a credit ...this you should have $100 credit to use towards other costs - good luck-Dave Skow | Loan Officer Movement Mortgage NMLS 278613 Dave.skow@movement.com Mobile (206) 714-9745
