I had to defer the last 2 payment, i am out of work. how will this effect my credit score? by aardo56 from Jacksonville, Florida. Feb 14th 2019
Well, it's likely to not be good. Modifications of any type usually show up as late payments and that has a big impact on your score. The good news is that when you get back on your feet, the positive payments you make will help you to be able to recover the score quickly...
Every lender deals with them differently.. Some will defer the payments and not report it on your credit report, others will defer and not put you into collections, but they will reflect the deferred payments on your credit as 30/60 day late.. it's really up to the lender.. next time you talk to them, ask them how they report this on the credit report. That all depends on how the lender reports it to the credit bureau. Some will not say anything, some will report it as a loan modifications, and some will show late payments. This is a great question for your specific lender.
