By missed, you probably mean 30 day late payments.. and i'm guessing your lender is asking for a letter of explanation.. If this is the case, then only you can write the letter.. but keep in mind that the lender is looking for 4 important things.. 1. You have taken responsibility, not blaming others.. 2. Why were you late, 3. was it an isolated situation. 4. What steps have you taken to prevent it from happening again. If your letter flows in this format, then you should be ok.. understand that this letter is not a deal breaker. Underwriters have to document in the file that they had a concern about a certain item and that they addressed it.. they are basically covering their butts..so don't sweat it, and write a good letter..
