Hello,If you have been making payments each month on the mortgage , and your overall score which includes the rest of your credit payments still allows you to qualify (which in most cases and most lenders will be 580-620) then you should be ok. Having a modification done 5 years ago will not disqualify you by itself. Hope that helps. We are located in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you want to discuss your specific situation further.

Short answer, you can. I work for a large bank in your area if interested in more information about refinancing. it may be the bank you have the loan modification now. Feel free to ask my opinion. email: jabennett2@mtb.com

You can refinance a modified loan anytime you want. There are no restrictions. You MAY find that the current lender who suffered the loss on the modification may tell you otherwise, but just talk to anyone else.
