Lizzie,Realtors often send out fliers for the neighborhoods they work with recent sales. Talking to a Realtor that knows your area is a good way as well to get an idea of the value if you are thinking about selling or just curious. However if you are planning to refi your home I maybe able to assist you in evaluating some comps in your area as they might apply to your home. Ultimately, we would have to order an appraisal if you moved forward with a loan but I try and assist my clients in estimating the value first to be sure we don't spend the money and not even be close. Happy to visit more if you wanted to contact me.
To figure out the true value you will need an appraisal. To get an estimated value you can talk with a local realtor that will be able to find you a pretty good idea of a bracket that the home will fall within
many different sources.. You can call a local real estate agent, and they can get you comparables to show you what your home might be worth.. you can also go to your county website and they will usually show what homes in your neighborhood sold for.. there are also online resources like Zillow and Trulia.. All of these will give you a close estimate, but ultimately, the appraisal will be most accurate.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona.
