Please remove me from your contact list. My bank just sent me a notice stating I will be charged a lot of fees if I investigate refinancing. I can not even get a payoff quote without paying.

Lender will charge you a small fee to order the payoff, which is normally about $15.00...If your lender is stating something else, that is a violation. Every creditor must by law, give you a payoff quote when you ask. Also, what fees are they stating you will be charged? Is it a prepayment penalty? If not a prepayment penalty, look at other banks or lenders.

If you have access to online payoffs you may be able to obtain one without a cost. But the lender below is correct in everything he states they cannot deny you a copy of the payoff of your loan. They can charge you fax fees and other silly stuff but that is the unfortunate part about servicing companies and big banks!
