On an FHA loan, can I have the down payment gifted from a family member?

Yes, from immediate family. They will have to provide a bank statement showing they have the money to give you, and the funds will have to be traced from them to you - but it is allowed. - Also allowed on some conventional mortgages as well which generally work out better for well qualified borrowers, or where the downpayment is more than 5%. They also must provide a signed statement that it truly is a gift and doesn't have to be repaid.
