Hi JJ, there are no-credit score type loans that can be offered with Conventional, FHA, USDA and VA loans but I'm not sure if they will allow for truly NO credit. With these types of loans, a lender must verify forms of non-traditional credit such as: rent, car insurance, cell phone, utilities, internet, storage facility - basically something in your name that you have been paying on for the past 12 months. Depending on the loan program, you would probably need 3-4 sources of non-traditional credit that could be verified. If you don't have this, then it may be difficult to purchase - even with a cosigner. Establishing credit (1-2 small limit credit cards) will help you short-term and long-term. You should also have one of your parents add you onto their credit card as an authorized user. If you have any additional questions, then you can give me a call at 662-298-0131. Lack of a current credit history will severely limit your loan options. Using non-traditional credit is an option, or trying a no-credit option as noted in Doug's reply is possible, but realistically, you should go get two credit cards right after reading this.. Doesn't matter who or what, just get two. You may have to get a secured card. That is OK. Doesn't matter the credit limit, or the interest rate on the card, just get two cards. Once you've had the two cards for at least 6 months, you will now have a credit score and credit history. The next tip is DO NOT use the cards beyond maybe the first month. Put a tank of gas on them, pay it off when the bill comes, and do not use the cards anymore than that. It is a gigantic myth that you must charge up and pay down to build credit. I've actually seem way too many people than I can remember who got new cards, max'ed them out, and actually wrecked the new credit immediately. I lend in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND.
