Can i negotiate certain fees? I am not living in a flood area so why should I have to pay a flood certification fee? by kevin3939 from Lincoln, . Oct 4th 2010
Depending upon who has created the guidelines (FannieMae, FreddieMac or other) they may require verification your house is /is not in a flood zone. That is what the flood certificate answers. It is not a profit point for a Loan Originator or Broker. But it won't cost you anything to ask if your lender will cover that expense.
Because it's required. Less than $20.00. There's a lot of other items you may want to question. This is not one of them.
