Hello Bob, I would contact your bank and ask who they could refer you to in the Czech Republic. Most large banks in the US have relationships with their foreign counterparts. They should be able to tell you what you will need to do to get a loan over there. Hope this helps you. Good Luck!
I don't think a US bank will lend to you in such a scenario. Dave has the right idea. Find a bank that has offices here and there and apply that way. ~ Bert Carpenter, The LoansA2z team of NOVA Home Loans ~ NMLS 40586 ~ Certified by the National Association of Mortgage Professionals and Licensed in California and Arizona ~ Licensed in California and Arizona ~ www.LoansA2z.com 888-889-9950
Sorry I can not help you
Bob -- you have two options: 1) borrow against equity here in US to purchase with cash in Czech Republic or 2) set up bank account in Czech Republic. They allow foreign accounts, and are not bothered by US currency being kept in the account. Once you have set up the account, I would suggest you talk to some ex-pats who are there to get some suggestions as to good real estate agent, and where best deal for financing might be found. (You might even want to talk to some of them before you transfer your funds in, so if it helps you can put the funds in the bank you would be borrowing the money from.)Hope this helps.
Contact an international bank that has offices both in USA and Czech Republic.
