I have a home to sell last year , I had my home appraisal and it was only worth 130, 000 we put in a new kitchen to add value to home , my deck needs fixed, and scare to sell had knee replacement need ranch home . still owe 110,000with paying agent sell home I don't know if going enough down payment , looking for a home 250,00 price range. good neighborhood here in Cincinnati how much will agent make off my home by miller.karen12115 from , California. That would be a good question for an agent. Typically an agent will charge 6% of the sales price. Keep in mind that they typically sell homes for more as well so the "price" they charge is usually negated by the value they bring (in marketing, negotiating, showing the home, advice, etc...)and the increase in the price they can get for you.

The norm is 6% of the sales price.

This is going to differ from every agent you speak with. Most of the time 6% is the total commissions paid to the agents on a home sale.

A good agent will give you very close estimations when putting together a listing packet.. and there's always other costs involved in selling your home above what the agent charges.. Typically, a listing contract will include 6% for commissions.. but this does not go to your listing agent.. The agent will offer your home as "Co-brokered" meaning they will split the commissions with the agent that brings them a buyer.. so YOUR agent only collects 3%. They usually have a split worked out with the company that they work for which on average can be 25%.. so YOUR agent will pocket 2.25% of that 3%.. and any costs that they have paid to market and advertise your property comes out of their commissions.. That depends Karen, each agent or company has their own fee structure. Some will work with you and even others offer discount services for less fees. However, it is always best to compare the cost vs. benefit, because cheaper is not always better. Contact a few local agents and see what your options are. Best wishes, Sean
